Our Story

As a little girl, I was always fascinated by rocks, shells, acorns, leaves, and anything else I could collect from nature. My books were always filled with fall leaves and flower petals, pressing them in hopes of preserving a bit of their vibrant color. I was particularly drawn to the ocean and the magic and power I felt there. I would collect shells and sand, and leave pieces of my hair in return as an offering, an exchange, a piece of myself for a piece of the Earth.

I never really outgrew the compulsion to collect beautiful tokens I found in nature, but I took fewer opportunities to do so as my adult life unfolded. I went to art school in the city, after which I became a preschool teacher, and then a Montessori teacher. I got married and had 2 children of my own. Along the way, my personal interests meandered through the magic of the moon, the cycles of the Earth, herbs, crystals, essential oils, yoga, and meditation. All of this was sprinkled among starting a family and frequent moves due to my husband’s job. But I’ve realized that this winding path I’ve walked has led me to the next pivot on the journey to my Center. Our lives are not meant to be stagnant or fixed, but are living, breathing, and growing right along with us.

My own personal labyrinth has brought me twists and turns, each one leading me inward, closer to my life’s purpose. My passion for stones and crystals, their energy and properties, creative design, process-oriented crafting, and relentless attention to detail in my art, has harmonized with my more recent affection for yoga, meditation, and living with intention. And it has emerged as MalaMuse.
